What's new with Learn.ink? (end 2021)

It's been a busy year for the product team here at Learn.ink so we thought we'd give you an update on some of the features, upgrades and changes we've made over the last few months.

We built Learn.ink because we believed teams working in emerging markets deserved better (and more affordable!) training tools and we've been exceptionally lucky to have such brilliant customers come with us on this journey. To all of you who gave feedback, made suggestions and shared ideas this year - thank you!

๐Ÿ“ˆ Updated dashboards

The biggest change we made this year was a complete overhaul of the way we do analytics. We now track every single user action meaning that we can give you an incredibly detailed (real time!) view of what's happening with your users.

Our updated analytics dashboards show you how your users are flowing through your courses and you can filter all of this data by user group and time period (see our help docs for more info). You can even see what's happening at an individual user level so you can easily follow up with those who are getting stuck. Some of our customers are now using the new analytics dashboards to determine who to promote and when - check out the video case study we did with Azuri earlier this year to learn more.

๐ŸŒŽ App translation

In 2021 we began the process of translating the Learn.ink app into multiple languages. We're proud to say that Learn.ink now works in 7 languages: English, Spanish (LatAm), French, Kiswahili, Hindi, Telugu and Amharic. A big thank you goes to everyone who helped us with the translation and localisation work. We (quite literally) couldn't have done it without you!

We'll continue to add more languages to the roster in 2022. If there's a language that you need that isn't on the list then please let us know - we prioritise the ones that are most in demand!

๐Ÿ“น Video cards

One of our most requested features this year was to enable videos to be integrated into lessons. You can now add "video cards" into your lessons in the form of YouTube or Vimeo links.

Next year we'll be working on adding video upload so that you can upload your videos directly into your Learn.ink lessons.

๐Ÿ† Upgraded progress mechanic

The beady-eyed among you will have noticed that we made a few changes to our learning UI at the beginning of the year. We felt that learners needed a clearer view of how well they were performing in the courses to help drive motivation and learning outcomes. Each course view now includes stars and scores (see below) that reflect how well users are doing in the quizzes and challenges.

๐ŸŽ–Customised certificates

Customised certificates was probably our most hotly requested feature this year! Many of you told us that you wanted to provide your learners with a more customised certificate including your own logos, artwork, colours etc. You can now change the look and feel of your users' Learn.ink certificates by uploading a template image. To make things easier we've even created a Canva template with some example designs (see below) for you to remix and make your own.

๐Ÿค” Simplifying the user experience

We try our best to make Learn.ink as easy as possible to use and this year we've made lots of little changes to create a simpler and more intuitive experience. For example, Learn.ink can now identify the country the user is located in so they don't need it themselves. It can also pick up when users have entered their phone number in the wrong format and correct it for them automatically. We'll continue making these small changes as we find more ways to improve the user experience - if you have any suggestions then please let us know!

Coming very soon!

  • Offline mode - we are in the final phases of building our fully offline-enabled version of Learn.ink that will work even with the most unreliable of internet connections (or when your users have run out of data!)
  • Learn.ink Android app - our offline-enabled version will be supported by a native Android app that users can install on their phones and access any time, anywhere
  • Custom avatars - many of you have asked and we've listened! Next year we'll be releasing a feature that will enable you to customise the teacher avatars to whatever you'd like. You can even use your own image if you wish! ๐Ÿ™‚

That's it for now. If you have suggestions for features you'd like to see added then please get in touch - we'd love to hear from you!
